The Mount San Giorgio is a place of scientific and cultural interest, located in the Canton of Ticino on the north shore of Lake Ceresio, where fossils have been found that date back to the middle Triassic period (245 to 230 million years ago). It has been an UNESCO World Heritage site since 2003.
